i must warn you that once you taste this decadent warm fudge there will be no going back to that store bought gunk, and let me just tell you after that first spoonful of chocolatey gloriousness, you will see what i mean by “gunk”. i’m just throwing this out there but this warm, gooey, hot fudge may change your outlook on life forever, among a few other things. yes, it is that good! -as a child growing up, my grandmother would make this very hot fudge for us every sunday to put on top of our breyers vanilla ice cream (oh and how it had to be breyers!). as you might have guessed, i too have yet to ever be the same. you have been warned! –p.s. put the fudge in a mason jar, tie a bow and you have yourself a wonderfully simple present 🙂
a simple present
for the hot fudge you will need:
2 cups – sugar
4 tablespoons – cocoa powder, unsweetened
dash of salt
one 8oz can (or 1 cup) – evaporated milk
4 tablespoons – butter, at room temperature
1 teaspoon – vanilla extract

combine the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt in a medium saucepan and stir until combined. add the evaporated milk and butter and stir frequently over medium heat until mixture comes to a full boil. let boil on medium heat for two minutes without stirring, then remove from heat and add the vanilla extract. stir. let cool slightly and serve over ice-cream. you can store the extra in fridge for up to a week.
