we’ve been lazy starting our fall festivities this year … between being gone the first half of last week and then both going back to work for the end, we just hadn’t gotten around to it. this may have something to do with why i’ve been craving good ol’ fashioned fried scones lately. mostly because when i was a kid, it was always about this time a year that we would go buy piping hot fresh ones smothered in honey butter and eat them in front of huge bonfires with some warm cider. where we found these places selling piping hot scones and warm cider that had oversized bonfires somewhere near, i really don’t know but i seem to somehow still have vivid memories of this happening. anyway, yesterday i made fresh scones, keeping with our lazy trend, with frozen roll dough and oil heated to 375 degrees. i also mixed up some honey butter and added bits of cinnamon and nutmeg in order to add a bit of extra cozy. they were obviously good due to the fact camden ate four … yes four. and because i felt we were cheating ourselves out of a properly celebrated autumn, we made time to put up our halloween decorations and then have a spooky date night in, sipping hot chocolate and watching wait until dark. scones, halloween decor, hot chocolate, and classic audrey … how could you get more fall than that?
that. sounds. amazing.

dreaming is believing
Was it at Winder Dairy for the fire and scones?
Sounds interesting and delicious!!
YUMMY! I love scones!! And seriously, they are the perfect fall time treat. I'm pretty sure the Allens would make those on Halloween and give out apple cider with them instead of giving out candy, that's probably what you're remembering 🙂 So jealous though, save me some for when I get home!
Ooooh I love love love scones. They are the best part of Utah for me. Living about ten minutes away from my small town diner where a scone the size of my head slathered in honey butter is $2. The best.
