a miracle happened this week. for the first time since i can remember, not including holidays or funerals, camden had the entire weekend off from work. because it seems like this never happens, our minds got thinking of all the things we could possibly do. besides building a fort in the living room and swimming in a hot spring, we actually accomplished most of the things on our list.
saturday morning we ventured downtown to search for a few items for a room i’m re-doing next week. by the way, let me apologize now for how much you will be hearing and seeing about this project. back to the point, one of the stops we made was to one of my favorite secondhand shops: elemente. this is where we found our coffee table and our pre-wore foot stool that i’m still in love with. they didn’t disappoint either. although i didn’t find anything i needed for the room, i found so many things i wanted to take home and if i had the space i would have.
the store is full of dark corners, funky little leather chairs, bad artwork and has the most wonderful overly eccentric sales lady i have ever met. she has big dramatic eyes, sky high cheekbones, and wiry brown curls bouncing off her head in every which direction. one of those women whose features are so strong makeup would almost overwhelm their face. there is something about this type of person that i find myself admiring to some point. words just seem to come freely to her mouth and although she may seem a slight bit cooky, she doesn’t seem to care at all. i like to think we are all a bit cooky but what i admire most is she isn’t afraid to let people see that, to be who she is, she seems so free. i do love this little store . . big love.
after we left the shop we headed over to a delicious little bakery on 3rd and 3rd for a little breakfast. although it was more like lunch than breakfast as it was closer to one in the afternoon than the traditional breakfast time. starved as we were we went for breakfast anyway. i had the yummiest most decadent not to mention unhealthy little treat. it was some sort thick densely whipped cream with fresh strawberries topped with flaky almond pastries that melted in your mouth, the whole thing melted in your mouth. now i’m wishing camden could have every saturday off, even if just for the strawberry ring pastry. . .
YUM. that food looks SO good. Love these photos!

oooh isn't that on pierpont? I used to work across the street!
okay i seriously work less than a block away from elemente, I'm going there today! Also, is that pastry from Gourmandise? I'm pretty sure I've had that exact thing and it was mind blowing.
