i had originally intended for this post to be up a few days ago with a real life table and light in place but thanks to a series of very unfortunate events, this is not what happened.

wednesday evening, i alone ventured down to ikea to grab the dining table we have planned for our little eating space. i have, over time, gotten the mindset that anything and everything can fit in the back of my car if i want it to. my car being a “large”, white, mini cooper. okay, not really large at all but seriously you should see the things it’s been able to squeeze into that trunk. anyway, me by my lonesome (camden was hard at work), i went to find our soon to be table in the large market of ikea. i saw it came in two boxes which reassured me that it would be that much easier to lift onto my cart and then into my car. i was slightly concerned however, about one boxes larger than anticipated size. – but, have no fear, i have my magic mini cooper able to squeeze whatever it likes inside. as i lifted with all my might to get those two boxes onto my cart, i had a sinking feeling of just how hard this could really be to lift it into my trunk, i had come so far i couldn’t quit now. once in the parking lot staring at the suddenly shrunken back of my boot, i knew i was about to make a complete fool of myself stuffing it in. well after about five minutes of trying, it came apparent that the larger box carrying the tables top was not going to fit, but it wasn’t by a lot. i decided to take it out of the box and slide it in that way, all too aware of the way this probably looked. crazy girl trying to fit something so large into a car so small, you get the idea. the top out of the box, i managed to slide it in but sadly not without scuffing the bottom side, our new tables first of a few battle wounds.

the next morning camden decided to get a head start on building the table. he is a big fan of ikea directions and an even bigger fan of putting their furniture together. if it sounds like i’m being sarcastic here, well it’s because i am. long story short, camden didn’t read or look rather, at the people drawings before attaching the tables top to the base, resulting in total destruction. our only hope now was that ikea would be graceful enough to overlook our hardships and let us return the table in exchange for another. luckily for us, we had a twist of fate here as ikea gladly took it back. however, our misfortune had not quite ended as we found out the table had spontaneously sold out and would not be available again until november first. it looks like a few more couch and coffee table meals are about to come our way. because the universe isn’t all bad, i later that day found out our television’s soon to be resting spot will be arriving monday instead of it’s previous predicted arriving date, the first week of november. a little trade i guess, a credenza for a dining table. universe, you are forgiven.

as seen above // the rug was found here and the chairs found here.

Amanda- I would totally recommend them. They are surprisingly comfortable to sit in for long periods of time. I would say more comfortable that the traditional wooden chairs, which is what we had before these. I personally LOVE them.
