i originally had dedicated this post for photos of our dream apartment that i had planned to stumble upon last tonight, well that didn’t happen. apparently you can’t plan these things.
my hopes were high. the ad said all wood floors, the number one must on my list, and the location was perfect, beyond perfect. as we arrived, i felt a soft flutter of butterflies in my stomach telling me we had found our soon to be (4th) home. as we walked up the street to take a peek inside my hopes suddenly started to become more distant. the sweet apartments that longingly called my name from a distance, looked slightly tired and sad close up. as we walked into the hallways the once imagined coziness turned into dirty carpets and the smell of quiet death. suddenly panicking, i asked a question to calm my nerves, “so there is hardwood throughout correct?” the nice lady giving us our tour replied “yes the hardwood like floors runs throughout the apartment, although i won’t be able to show you one with the hardwood like floors today”. my heart stopped. “the hardwood like?” i asked. apparently they meant vinyl that had the appearance of hardwood.
once in the apartment we knew it was all wrong. the lighting was terrible, the kitchen was beyond tiny, and the the layout was sad. it felt like an office building, not like a home. it was so disappointing thinking this would be the place we could call home and come to realize it was a sad excuse for a house. needless to say we left in a hurry.
discouraged and hungry we decided to cheer ourselves up with our favorite little restaurant sitting in our hopefully soon to be new neighborhood. oversized sandwiches, delicious pastries, it’s hard not to be giddy over it all.
we have no idea where to look next, but we are hopeful somewhere in the heart of town our little apartment, perfect for our family of three is waiting for us to find it. let the hunt begin (again).
this is seriously one of my favorite stores.

Apartment hunting sucks! You'll find it thought. Good luck!
That food looks SO good! Fun pictures!

you'll find the right one! it took us forever when we were house hunting, i think we spent a LOT of money on discouraged lunches (or in some cases premature celebration lunches..oops)…sometimes it just takes time to find the right one! (unfortunately!)
aww boo! That first picture looks like such a cute area to live in! 🙁 Keep looking! I'm sure it's out there somewhere 🙂
Hang in there. You'll find a great apartment soon. Just don't give up and continue searching. Try using an online apartment finder as a preliminary search option before you to begin to head for the apartments in person to check on them.
