at three months old, jude, weighs eleven pounds, is twenty-three inches tall, and has jumped into the tenth percentile! despite all of the super cute soft toys and blankets we’ve gotten for him, jude loves snuggling with his burp cloths most. he doesn’t like sucking a pacifier unless it has a green frog attached to it. he doesn’t like car rides unless alt-j is playing. he doesn’t like napping unless he has his vibrating elephant touching his back, his burp cloth between his arms, is perched up on his side, and his nap time toy that slowly spins in front of his eyes to look at. he doesn’t like drinking from a bottle unless he is lying down. he always loves baths, music, the itsy bitsy spider, looking at lights, and snuggling with mom in bed. at three months, if you were to look up jude in the dictionary it wold say: particular … but also see cute.

brotherly love

being a new big brother definitely has it’s challenges … not feeling like the baby anymore is probably the biggest. and then there is of course, not accidentally stepping on your little brother when you are excited, and putting up with those occasional meltdowns and screaming tantrums. according to kramer, it’s also hard for an older brother, who is very well potty trained outside, to understand why his little brother feels the need to constantly poop and pee his pants … in all seriousness though, kramer has really made the transition from an only “child”, once getting all the attention, to sharing the attention with the newest addition to our family, jude, very well. although i would still not call them friends, kramer has become very protective over jude which is really very sweet. also, as pictured here, kramer wishes that jude’s ergo baby carrier belonged to him. everyday, as soon as jude gets out, along comes kramer to take his place and hop on in. i’m excited to see how these two will continue to grow together and hope that they one day will be the best buds.

splish, splash, jude was takin’ a bath

it was one of those harder than normal nights as new parents. jude had gotten his two month vaccinations the day before making his legs sore and giving him a bit of a fever. he was unusually fussy and wanted to constantly nurse for comfort. we were all sitting on the couch, i had just had my first shower in four days, we were trying to get baby jude settled and down for the night, when he did the biggest projectile spit-up all over himself and me. i mean this thing came out the mouth, the nose, and we were both completly soaked. feeling completely defeated, we reluctently decided to quickly throw baby jude into the puj tub before bed, knowing that this probably wouldn’t make his current fussiness any better as he still hadn’t come around to the whole idea of a bath. however, to our surprise, as soon as we undressed the little guy and stuck him in his tub in the sink, his whole disposition changed. he became playful and smiley. he kicked the warmth with his wiggly toes and cooed at the running water coming out of the faucet. it suddenly made the entire night worth it. camden hurried and grabbed the camera to capture these photos before we were sure his giggles would soon turn to tears … but miraculously they didn’t. that smile stayed on his face all the way until he fell asleep for the night. as exhausted new parents, we couldn’t have been happier.

a trip of firsts

baby jude and i spent this past week in southern california with my mom and two sisters. jude experienced so many firsts there, all of which he will not remember, however he did just the same. we wen’t to the beach a few times where he had his first encounter with sand and sunscreen, the sand he liked, the sunscreen … not so much. he wore his pants on his head for the first time … not by choice but because his mama forgot to pack his sunhat. he also took his first trip to disneyland which … let’s just say baby jude has not acquired that fond love for anything disney as of yet. all in all, it was a very successful trip even including the car ride. my only regret is not getting more photos, although, as you will see below, i did take about a billon of baby jude. on a side note, my family pointed out to me how i always refer to jude as “baby jude” (in real life and on the web) and no, i know no other judes … i guess it has just become a bit of a silly habit 🙂
